About us

About the association

Dobrovoljno Vatrogasno Društvo "Žegar" carries on the tradition of voluntary firefighting in Croatia – service to the community, readiness and neighbourly help.

01Who we are

Voluntary fire associations in Croatia bring together people who give their free time to the safety of their neighbours and the place they live. Our association is part of that tradition.

Here we introduce the association, our values and the way we work. Details about structure, equipment and history are published only once confirmed by the association's authorised representatives.

02Our values

  • Service to the community without expectation of reward
  • Responsibility, discipline and respect for professional rules
  • Solidarity and mutual help
  • Openness towards residents, especially children and young people
  • Cooperation with the competent services and institutions

03Working with children and the community

Introducing children to firefighting is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. Through conversation and a look at the equipment, they learn how to stay safe and who to call for help.
