Community safety

Safer together

Safety is a shared responsibility – neighbours who know and help each other spot danger sooner.

01Household preparedness

  • Agree an escape plan with everyone at home.
  • Keep a torch, water, basic medicines and important numbers to hand.
  • Know where to shut off electricity, gas and water.

02Looking out for others

Older people, people with disabilities and families with small children may need help in an emergency. Get to know your neighbours and agree who can help whom.

03Official information

In an emergency, rely on official announcements from the competent authorities rather than unverified social media messages.
